Recently I tried to brainstorm some ideas for concept shoots to use my darling brother for. (Yay, willing models) and I had vague ideas of what I wanted to do. And then came on the Bad Veins and I’m jamming…
And then I listen to the lyrics and thank god for beautiful writing because I fell in love with the band all over again and as a result had inspiration for this new series.
We went out, and shot, and I edited and here’s two of the few shots we did.
So, if you’re a Bad Veins fan or not (go listen then!) if you can figure out what songs these two pictures came from I’ll send you a print of one of these shots (or the upcoming ones.)
Lesson: Practice Makes Perfect
Another before and after. Decided to re-edit a photo from 2010. One of my faves but have never loved how dark it turned out and even the lack of touch ups. Not that my model Andrea needed much but it’s nice to have even clearer skin for fashion photos.

A Giveaway for Authors! Win a mini shoot inspired by your book!
It’s been a very long time since I did this type of giveaway but I’ve been feeling creative so here it goes…
I want to do a mini shoot inspired or based on your book. The last one I did was for Cory Jackson way before her book sold (I believe) so I am really excited to see what will end up getting shot this time. Here’s some photos based on books so you have an idea of what you could be getting yourself into.
Here’s what you need to do!
Rules are you have to send a teaser in comments (or privately if you prefer via email: vandsmedia[at]gmail.com). Must be at least agented.
Teasers must be descriptive, teasing, and visual or pertinent to the book. Nothing too abstract. I should be able to read and visualize a scene or character. Once picked I’ll probably ask for more information.
+1 EXTRA ENTRY if you tweet/blog/shout it out somewhere.
The way I pick:
I’ll read through all the submissions, then pick my top 5 choices I feel I can photograph. Then those extra points play a part in who wins since I’ll take into consideration first who has the most points. So the more people you bring in or the more you tweet/blog it, the more chances you have of winning.
If there’s a tie, I’ll put it up to the public to vote and decide for me.
